Account and sign-in
In the Bembi mobile app, an adult user can create a free account and sign in with a code sent by email, or with Apple or Google. To operate the account, we process the email address and an internal user identifier. If you choose Apple or Google sign-in, we receive only the information that the relevant provider permits to be shared for authentication. If you use Apple Hide My Email, this may be a private relay address rather than your primary email address.
Favourites and reading progress
To keep your experience available across sessions, Bembi may associate your internal account identifier with your list of favourite stories and reading progress. This information is used only to provide Bembi features and is not shared with advertising networks for targeted advertising.
Local data on your device
The app and website may store technical data on your device that is needed to operate the service, such as your sign-in session, interface settings, language, playback state, and temporary favourite or reading-progress changes awaiting synchronisation. You can remove local website or app data through your device or browser settings. When an account is deleted, Bembi also clears local data associated with that account to the extent supported by the app.
Emails and messages
If you sign in with an email code, your address is used to deliver the one-time code and service messages related to your account. If you contact us by email or through the contact form, we may receive your name, email address, subject and message text. Please do not send unnecessary personal or sensitive information.
Technical data from the website and app
When you use Bembi, infrastructure providers may process standard technical request data such as IP address, device or browser type, request time, requested page and diagnostic information. This can be necessary to deliver content, maintain security, prevent abuse, diagnose errors and keep the service reliable.
Advertising on the website
The Bembi website may display advertising through Google services. When ads are loaded, Google and its partners may use cookies, identifiers and technical data in accordance with their own policies and your privacy choices. Bembi does not send your Bembi account email address, internal Bembi user identifier, favourite-story list or reading progress to Google for targeted advertising.
Children and families
Bembi is made for families and children, but the app account is intended for an adult. We do not ask children to create accounts or send us personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate adult involvement, contact hello@bembi.biz so we can review the request and, where appropriate, delete the information.
How we use data
We use data only as needed to create and protect accounts, authenticate users, synchronise favourites and reading progress, deliver service emails, respond to messages, maintain security, fix problems and improve Bembi. Account data is not sold and is not used by Bembi to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Service providers
Bembi uses external services to operate. Supabase provides authentication, internal user identifiers, database services and account-state synchronisation; Resend is used to deliver email; Apple and Google may be used for sign-in when you choose them; Vercel and Cloudflare help host and deliver the website and media; and Google may provide advertising services on the website. These providers process data under their own privacy policies, terms and, where applicable, data-processing agreements. We use them only for the relevant service functions.
Retention and deletion
Account data is kept while the account is active or for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, maintain security or meet legal requirements. You can initiate full account deletion directly from the app settings. When you delete your account, Bembi deletes the account record and the synchronised favourites and reading progress associated with it. Certain technical, security or email-delivery logs held by service providers may remain for a limited period under their policies or applicable law.
Your choices and requests
If you want to ask what data is associated with your account, correct information, ask a privacy question or request deletion, email hello@bembi.biz. The simplest way to delete your account and associated account data is to use the deletion option in the app settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Bembi features, service providers or data-handling practices change. The latest update date is always shown at the top of this page.
